Have any of you had this experience???

As all of you know I am an avid quilter I both make and collect quilts. So I haunt (LOL) flea markets, thrift stores etc. There are times when I will pick up an item in a flea market or thrift store and get a flash of the person or persons who made the quilt along with the emotions which were sewn into the quilt. Most quilts have a sweet aura about them and you can feel the love, but two weeks ago I was at a thrift store and found a beautiful "broken dishes Pattern" quilt. When I picked it up, I got such ajolt of evil from it I almost lost my balance (losing my balance at this point in life is pretty easy for me, but this was different) I put the quilt down and said a prayer to St Michael, went and looked at other things and went back to the quilt. It was more than I really wanted to pay but I bought it, I knew this was going to be a problem getting it home but I could not risk someone else buying this quilt. I looked around and found some survivial foil bankets, (I guess that is what they are called) so I bought one and wr apped the qiuilt in it and then put it in my trunk.

When I got home I took it straight out to the burn barrel and burned it. Maybe my imagination but it seemed to scream as it burned and the smoke was a strange redish brown to black. Then I had to clean by trunk just incase, so I did a cleansing of the car,my clothesand myself. Of course my husand was not a happy camper than I had just burned up a $150 quilt or my new car smelled of burnt sage. He is not a believer so our evening was not one to write home about.

He says I have an over active imagination and the sounds were just birds, that is his opinion, I think differnt.

Just wanted to share this little story with the group to see if others had had similar expoeriences. I know Midnight Rider was always care what she touched in flea makets or antique stores. I never touch weapeans of any type

No i havnt had anything that clear or vivid happen to me when touvching objects yet.

the closest i came to it was at my friends house. his grandma had her garage open and was clearing stuff out of it. i was in there with them and kept feeling drawn to the rear left corner of the garage. i would go there and stand there and stare at this old beat up tore up dusty chair. just stand there and stare for like 5 minutes at a time. finally i asked what is up with that chair in the corner. his grandma told me her husband had died in it a few years ago and that she thinks he haunts the chair so thats why it is in the garage and not in the house or thrown out yet.

My hubby would have flipped, too! I have not experienced what you are describing. I feel the residual energies on antiques and the like. Even this year at the state fair I had the strong feelings looking at the stuff. I get tingly and goosebumply. The strongest feelings were with the toys and clothing - maybe because they were more personal. I even got a little queasy while I was looking at the toys - I was touching the cabinet. As soon as I left the area, after a couple of minutes, I was fine. It is a very strange phenomenon. A new car - how exciting!

Wow SC that was a really nice thing to do. I know you took some flact for it. I'm really sorry for that , but the world is a better place now that you removed that bit of nastiness from it. It was a wonderful gift.

Would the bad aura affect a person who bought the quilt even if they could not feel it? If they had no psychic awareness? Would it attract negativity to the household? The quilt itself could not cause bad things to happen.

The negative energy in the quilt would effect the person who bought it

i agree that it would affecxt the person who bought it but i also think it would generally affect the immediate area around it as well and anyone who was near it for any length of time who did not know how to sheild themselves from it. its like how in chernobyl that anyone who approaches the bad radiation there (think of it for examples sake as bad energy) will be effected. how badly depends how long you were at chernobyl and what kind of protection you wore and how strong the radiation was.

That makes perfect sense. Most people would not know what was causing their troubles, tho. Good thing I don't have any discretionary money to spend! Knowing what I know now, I would be cleansing all the time - I love to shop. Thanks you two.

A question for my understanding. I was thinking about this, this morning. Would the negative energy in the quilt, or any object, be absorbed just by being in the same house as the person who is infected with the negative energy? Or does the energy transfer through use and touch? Like spreading germs, maybe. And, if a second owner had in their home, would the negative energies affect that person? If they are a positive person and, even subconsciously, always think and feel positive thoughts, could that negativity infect their life anyway? It just seems to me, that a naturally positive, happy person would naturally repel negative energy. Hmmm.....

the answer i posted bnefore still applies to this situation as well, so just by proximity then yes it could potentially affect anyone, but by how much depends on how strong that person was, how strong their shield was, how much extra positive energy they had to waste by counteracting the negative effects, regardless of wether they are aware of it consciously or not. and so on with that...

but also...in the situation you described...

if you brought such an object home then not only would the above portion of this response still be true, but its worse because now youre always around it, even when youre most vulnerable such as sleepin youre near it...over time it can slowly erode defenses depoending on if youre stronger than it or not...if there is enough negative energy you can get energy transferance because like an emf pump thingie that pumps out excess energies, if the item had a conscious negative energy attatched to it that entity would begin affecting your personal space and atmosphere of your home negatively, building energies. these energies if strong enough can even become part of the permanent residual energies of the house itself.

of course it is also possible that if the person knows and understands and can defend themselves that they can hold it at bay, or get rid of it properly and cleanse the house and avoid a disaster. it is also possible that the item is just too weak to break your defenses or affect your space in any meaningful way unless you have a weak moment.

think of your lives in spiritual terms as a delicate balancing act or a fragile marine ecosystem. everything has its place in the ecosystem and everything effects everything else around it in some way seen or unseen.

oh and by the way, the germ effect theory you had can also be true...for example...if you tend to pick up easy on toher peoples emotions and carry that burden with you then you should know how true this is. some people can feel that and be effected by that more easily than others. but if you have a person with bad energy around them for whatever reason and they are in a bad mood and they scream at you, wouldnt most people become upset then as well? was that not just some form of energy transference? did that not just spread instantly like a germ?

if a person affected by strong bad energies touches you on the shoulder and you tend to pick up or respond to those things easily i would think it is even possible for you to feel sick or get upset for no reason you can understand, or maybe you could even throw your shoulder out for a week because of the bad energy interrupting positive energy flow properly. so yes it can spread like a germ from livcing person to living person.

this is why my mentor wears long sleeves even int he winter. he does not like to unecessarily touch people or be touched by people. he gets visions from it that can be very disturbing knowing everyones secrets good and bad and their energies can affect his life. he wont touch doorknobs and other high traffic areas with his bare skin either and it isnt cuz he is a germaphobe, he is even a registered nurse so it aint fear of germs...

otb I'll get to your question in a little bit. My break time is about up at the moment. I still need to read ussula's response as well. Might be that she'll say what I was thinking.

SC-I find most things I tough are neutral. I have trained myself to only see memories/thoughts/etc if its something that I need to see. I believe a lot in privacy and overall balance. There is good and bad in ALL things. Some days there's more good, some theres more bad. However, if someone or something is having a particularly hard time with the balance I'll feel it. I also have touched things that got my defenses up. But usually my thought is, ok, time to cleanse. I have had to cleanse items AND people! I knew one girl in particular that was tormented by a spirit with bad intentions (I don't believe anything is truly evil but rather might have evil tendencies.) and once she found me (even before we had a talk about any of this) she clung to me. Said I made her feel safer than she could ever remember last.

If the feelings were so extreme I give you props for doing what you think was best to handle the situation. I dont know if I would have paid that for it. I would probably have done a quick cleansing. As for the colors of burning. As with everything I have to look at maybe physical reasons why something might happen. First many minerals burn different colors (this is how fireworks are made) and sometimes the coloring of items are made by incorporating minerals into fabrics. Then there's the dyes/colors themselves. I remember growing up and going to a cabin in the mountain that my aunt owned. We'd find dry pine cones and paint them. We'd then put them into the fire and watch the smoke. All the different colors do make different colored smoke. With a quilt I'd imagine there would be lots of dyes of different colors. Could it be paranormal? Sure. However, I dont know if I could contribute it to it blindly.

I don't think the color of the smoke was paranormal but interesting any way. Many fabrics burn with different colors and ordors.


As I always say not everything that goes bump in the night is paranornmal.
