I am well. Tired of all the running I have done already this week! How's your Mom doing?

PostSubject: She is Better   Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:32 pm

Once we we got her on the blood thinners and had her filter put in, now it is just getting her to eat!

Hugs I love you

Ooo... The dreaded eat word. I know I sound like a broken record to my Mom, but she eats next to nothing. If it weren't for the candy she eats, she would have nothing to live on! One of the problems with vascular dementia is loss of appetite. She eats two bites and throws the rest away. She was also severely dehydrated - try getting a stubborn, cantankerous woman to drink when she doesn't want to! NOT fun. Her doc makes her drink koolaid. It works. She's no longer dehydrated, she gets her sugar fix, and she's eating a tad better. Even her memory has improved. Man, I was not ready to have to take care of a parent. I took care of my stepdad before he passed as well, because Mom could not do it. The sad thing is she's only 75. Physically she's 110.

Mom can't be on blood thinners because of the risk of falling - which she does from time to time. They would not help her much anyway. Hers are chronic. The risk outweighs the benefits. Oh well. I love her, so I will take care of her to the end.

Wendy, I hope all stays well and you get some you time. I love you There's never a dull moment here! LOL
